You’d never believe summer hasn’t ‘officially’ started in Ontario, especially when you see how many hours we’ve spent dreaming about sunny patios, sipping on glasses of Ontario VQA wine.
We love going right to the source for Ontario wine, which means visiting wineries. Come summer, that has us planning a road-trip to the Ontario wineries with the best patios. Here’s where we’re headed this year!

Redstone Winery, Niagara on the Lake
There’s nothing that we don’t love about Redstone Winery. We love their commitment to local food, we love their Pinot Noir, and we really love their patio.
At Redstone, they understand how to curate an experience for their guests. During the day their patio invites you to lounge for hours while you enjoy a tasting flight, at night the space transforms to host events that will keep you happy until the sun comes up.
Wayne Gretzky Estates Winery & Distillery, Niagara-on-the-Lake
The patio at Wayne Gretzky’s offers a fantastic view of the grounds while you sip on a glasses of wine – or whiskey! Bonus: On weekends, they have live music outside on the patio.
Norman Hardie, Prince Edward County
The best thing about this patio? The fresh wood-fired oven pizza served all summer! The award-winning wines don’t hurt either. Do like we do and order a few pies and a bottle of their celebrated Pinot Noir, on the second level over-looking the vines.
Vineland Estates Winery, Niagara-on-the-Lake
Another Feast On restaurant with another fantastic patio! As one of Niagara’s first winery restaurants, rest assured you will receive unparalleled service while you enjoy delicacies from an internationally trained team of chefs – using Ontario ingredients, of course. The patio has covered space for those days that aren’t all sunshine and rainbows too.

Jabulani Vineyard & Winery, Ottawa
This patio is only a 30 minute drive from Ottawa’s downtown core, but you’d think you had driven hours into the countryside. You can even bring your own picnic, or take a tour of the vineyards.
Peller Estates Winery, Niagara-on-the-Lake
We recommend spending some time on the patio at Peller Estates Winery if you feel like getting pampered. The elegant terrace serves casual lunches and flips for dinner. With weekly deals like Wine Wednesdays and Wine Down Fridays, this patio will start your summer off right!
The Roost Wine Company, Grey County
The patio at the Roost Winery offers the ultimate getaway from the hustle of the city! Surrounded by country roads, lush gardens and acres of vineyards, we hope to spend hours here this summer. We recommend you order their local cheeseboard while you’re soaking up the sun!
Pelee Island Winery, Pelee Island
Pelee Island Winery has more than 700-acres planted on Pelee Island, making it the most southerly vineyard in Canada. Whether you choose to indulge at the pavilion or on the mainland, you’re guaranteed a good time. The pavilion though is a hub of activity on the island during the summer, offering up wine tours, tastings, and garden barbecues.
